
Dermal Filler PRE & POST CARE
PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Please follow these guidelines 7–14 days before your appointment, unless otherwise instructed:

Eat a high-protein diet before your procedure to support tissue repair and healing.

Arrive with a clean face — no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or skincare products on the treatment area.

Avoid alcohol for at least 24–48 hours prior to treatment to reduce bruising and swelling.

Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 7 days prior unless medically necessary, including:

Aspirin
-
Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
-
Naproxen (Aleve)
-
Fish oil
-
Vitamin E
-
Turmeric
-
Garlic supplements
-

No dental work or dental appointments for 2 weeks before your filler treatment.

Inform your provider if you have a history of:

Cold sores (HSV-1) — antiviral medication may be recommended prior to treatment

Bleeding disorders
-
Autoimmune conditions
-
Prior filler complications
-
Do not proceed with treatment if you are:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding

Experiencing an active infection, illness, rash, or cold sore

Notify your provider of any recent facial procedures or surgeries

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these instructions carefully after your dermal filler treatment:

Eat a high-protein diet after treatment to support healing and collagen repair.

Expect mild swelling, tenderness, firmness, or bruising—this is normal and temporary.

Do not massage, rub, or manipulate the treated areas for 2 weeks unless specifically instructed by your provider.

Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, or excessive heat for 48 hours.

Avoid alcohol for at least 24–48 hours after treatment.
-
Sleep on your back with your head elevated the first 2 weeks if possible.
-
Makeup may be applied after 12–24 hours, unless otherwise instructed.
-
Avoid facials, lasers, microneedling, or skin treatments on the treated area for 2 weeks.

No dental work or dental appointments for 2 weeks after filler treatment.

Apply cold compresses as needed for swelling (do not apply ice directly to skin).
Lip filler specific:

Avoid kissing, oral pressure, or excessive lip movement for 24–48 hours.

Keep lips hydrated using a gentle, fragrance-free lip balm after 24 hours.
-
Avoid lipstick, lip gloss, or tinted balms for 48 hours.
