I'm Laura Ortiz-Bernal, a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice with a clinical foundation in emergency medicine, trauma, vascular surgery, and family care.
My work is rooted in evidence-based medicine, anatomical precision, and uncompromising safety.
My story began long before aesthetics. I came to the United States from Mexico at five years old-raised by hardworking immigrant parents who taught me resilience, discipline, and the power of building a life from nothing. At seventeen, I entered healthcare as a CNA and eventually transitioned into the Emergency Department, where I spent over a decade caring for patients through everything from minor injuries to life-threatening trauma. I served as a Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Triage Nurse, and Preceptor, and was honored as Nurse of the Year for clinical excellence and leadership.
Alongside ER medicine, I worked in vascular surgery, assisting in pre- intra, and post-operative care, experience that heightened my anatomical awareness and procedural medicine knowledge.
After earning my Doctor of Nursing Practice at Rutgers University with honors-and receiving the Alpha Tau Research Award for my dissertation on vaping-related lung injury-I advanced into the role of Emergency and Trauma Nurse Practitioner. Those years shaped the standard I bring to my practice today: precision, calm under pressure, and ethical medical care above all else.
In 2023, I discovered my calling in aesthetic medicine-a specialty that merges anatomy, science, art, and human connection. I've always been a procedural clinician, and aesthetics became the natural progression of that skillset. My approach is simple but powerful:

In 2025, I founded L'Aura Aesthetics, a boutique medical suite built on Anatomy-Driven results, trust, ethics, and personalized patient care. I am certified in neurotoxins, dermal fillers, PDO threads, Sculptra, regenerative skin treatments, microneedling, Morpheus8, medical weight loss, and IV therapy. My practice focuses on full-face rejuvenation, regenerative medicine, and creating transformative yet natural results.
I have trained extensively with national experts in the field of aesthetics, and completed multiple cadaver-based facial anatomy courses to ensure every injection is guided by a deep understanding of underlying structures.
To advance the safety and academic rigor of our field, I am currently pursuing the Clinical Anatomy Graduate Certificate at Hardin-Simmons University, with the goal of becoming a Clinical Anatomist in Aesthetic Medicine.
In addition to aesthetic services, I specialize in medical weight loss and metabolic health. I am a proud member of the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) and hold advanced certification in obesity medicine, allowing me to provide evidence-based GLP-1 therapy, comprehensive metabolic assessments, and long-term lifestyle planning.
Outside of medicine, I'm a new mom, an avid traveler, and someone who believes beauty is not vanity-it's confidence, healing, and self-ownership.
